Teen Leadership - Jack and Jill Conference

Wonderful time at the campus of UNT Dallas at the Jack and Jill Leadership Conference.

"Everything they said today at the Leadership Conference sounded like YOU were talking; they said everything you always say: You need to focus on your education and future if you want to have a happy life. You need to have a positive attitude when your parents ask you to do something, it's the least you can do after everything THEY are doing for you. Was the time you spent doing an activity well invested?"

Perot

As we dive deeper into biology, we decided to take a field trip to the Perot Museum for a hands-on experience and fun times with family out in the community.

Fencing Tournament

Haley is hoping to win enough (or the "right" kind) of bouts to qualify for entry into Nationals (which conveniently will be in Dallas Summer 2016.  She came in 40th out of 43 girls, however she scored on everyone, and the girls competing were among the very BEST in the Country, coming from New York, California, and all over.  Additionally, most of these girls have been fencing for years (Google reveals that they were in 10 and younger category years ago).  Haley just started fencing competitively in February!!  She's on a great path!!

Geometry - Teaching Textbooks

Done (with a tutor as needed) over the summer.

I must say, I am a fan of this geometry course.  While it isn't that 'complicated', it is a great basic course that introduces concepts, allows for practice, has great good lectures, and Haley felt comfortable advancing to algebra 2 (which, admittedly, is quite disconnected from geometry, anyway).

Geometry can be a difficult subject for many students.  Haley, likewise, finds it complicated.  However, geometry is well-incorporated into the AwesomeMath lectures and Summer Program.  So, combined with these resources, we felt comfortable with TT.
