The ladies enjoy each other's company at a sleep-over.  Next day, breakfast, and fun times rock climbing, laser tag, bowling, and chit-chatting.  What a great social event to wrap up the year!!

Pan de Muerto

One of the great things about having children is, you get to redo some of the fun things you enjoyed in your childhood - like Halloween costumes, trick or treating, and candy. 

But also, you get to grow past that with them too.  This year the consensus was:  No trick or treating ("its too cold; the candy is bad for us; besides you don't let us eat it anyway); No costumes (Hana may have wanted to, but she very easily and happily acquiesced to the pleasure of the group to the extent that I believe that she was happier going with the group without even really giving much thought to what she WOULD HAVE wanted to do if not for the group). 

Instead, we stayed inside.  Turned off the lights.  Read about Pan de Muerto, and enjoyed this sweet bread.  Had fruit and cookies dipped in melted dark chocolate.  And watched Jurassic World on Pay-per-view....and had a perfect night!!

The new program year for Jack and Jill begins with an Urban Air pizza party.

Overnight visit spent creating a "new line of organic lip glosses" from kitchen items with her buddy.

Equestrian - learning about horses

Every summer we take some time to spend with horses.  The school year gets busy, and the weather is unpredictable.  But summer evenings are PERFECT for connecting with nature.  And caring for horses, riding horses, learning to control a horse, is very empowering....and FUN!!

Children's Cluster

Children's Cluster is always chalked full of magnificent educational opportunities and great socialization with peers and friends.  This year the conference was held at Great Wolf Lodge. 

• Workshops included, computer programming and animation sponsored by UT Dallas.  
• African Drummers and dancing - cultural education and African geography lesson.
• The Children's Defense Fund Freedom School hosted an interactive literacy discussion.
• Interactive "Mad Science" was the highlight with bubbling potions and "magical" science experiments.
• Emergency medical technician spent time talking about safety:  seat belts, helmets, and using good judgement in public.

And THEN, there was plenty of snacking and waterpark fun with Jack and Jill friends!!!

Potato plant and art faces

Its spring, but it doesn't yet feel like spring.  Anxious to see something bud and grow, we decided to do the timeless "potato sprouting experiment" as we await warmer weather.
